MING GARDEN REVIEW:

We visited Ming Garden during their first week, where they offered an grand opening special of all you can eat dim sum. We took the opportunity to try as many dishes as we could at that time. The dim sum was fresh, delicious, and well-made. Ashe, who is extremely picky with her dim sum, recommends coming here for dim sum.

Ming Garden offers dim sum on a trolley cart (weekends only) and via a la carte during the rest of the week. On our first visit, the co-founder, Yan, informed us that he was planning a multi-course menu which he invited us to come back to try.

Our chef's table interactive dining experience was hosted by the co-founder and chef, Yan, who has 35 years of experience in hospitality and previously owned an Italian restaurant. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the restaurant as well during our second visit.

For our first course, we had the Manhattan seafood chowder which is a tomato-based soup. Chef Yan added his own touch by using bok choy as one of his ingredients. It was a delightful take on chowder and was a surprisingly light soup.

The second course was shrimp Caesar salad. Chef Yan made the dressing tableside according to our preferences. The salad was delicious and paired nicely with shrimp although we did find the dressing was slightly on the saltier side.

Next was the fried shrimp balls served with Chef Yan's sauce, they had a great crunch and went well with the sweet and tangy sauce. We even got extra sauce to dip the shrimp ball in.

The meal was followed by the oyster with black bean sauce, which is the largest oyster we have ever seen before. The flavors paired perfectly.

Finally, the main entree-the lobster, which was finished off with a tableside fire show.

We were honestly pretty full at this point but Vee and Kate managed to get a few more bites in. The seafood dish was extravagant for a main entree. Each plate had lobster, giant scallops and large shrimp. They did not skimp on the fresh seafood! We were able to take the rest home so no food was wasted.

To finish of our meal, we had bananas foster which was also cooked tableside. We got a nice fire show.

Hot bananas paired with alcohol, caramelized sauce, and cold ice cream is always a winner. Chef Yan also adds his own touch with strawberry sauce on top, which it didn't really need as the banana foster was great on its own.

In Closing: We recommend Ming Garden if you're looking for dim sum or a special personalized dining experience. All the food was fresh and delicious and we appreciated Chef Yan's passion for both cooking and entertaining. For a chef's table meal, this was reasonably priced. Of course, it can get pricey if you're opting for all the alcohol recommendations.

According to Chef Yan, they plan to periodically offer the all-you-can-eat dim sum special. Even if it's not all-you-can-eat, we'd still recommend going if you're looking for good dim sum!
