REVIEW:
Hidden away and attached to the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort hotel is Four Flamingos. Despite being only a few minutes away from Disney World, it offers a break from the tourist attractions while still providing a taste of Florida with its Key West inspired menu. Once inside, you’re greeted by a beautiful glass chandelier and tropical decor.
During our first visit to Four Flamingos, we ordered the oxtail & foie gras empanada. The empanada really made an impression on us and kept calling us back.
On our most recent visit, we initially planned to try the happy hour specials while we waited to be seated, but our party of six was seated almost immediately even without a reservation.
To our disappointment, their happy hour specials is only available at the bar, which is tucked away to the right of the hostess station. For those who just want to try a taste of what Four Flamingos has to offer, the happy hour menu includes a small selection of dishes as well as drinks and is available daily from 5 to 6 PM.
Our server was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. All his suggestions were well-received. At his recommendation, we ordered two of the Euphoria drinks so that he could perform an infused smoke and bubble show for our table.
We also ordered the hibiscus mocktail and an old fashioned. The cocktail menu was on the pricier side, however, they were all very tasty and they did not skimp on the alcohol. We definitely suggest taking advantage of the happy hour specials in order to try their drinks.
For appetizers, we ordered the grilled octopus, pork belly, and the oxtail & foie gras empanada. While the grilled octopus and pork belly had mixed reviews amongst our party, everyone loved the empanadas. The oxtail was just as juicy and delicious as we remembered and the mango chutney it was paired with gave it just the right amount of oomph. They were generous with the meat and the empanada was large enough to share between 3-4 people.
For entrees, we chose the lamb, the Chilean seabass and the swordfish. The portions were huge and definitely shareable. Sides are ordered separately; the coconut steamed rice paired well with all of our entrees. Both the seabass and swordfish were perfectly cooked: delicate, tender and flaky.
Four Flamingos also offers dessert cocktails. We tried the chocolate martini and matcha Baileys. The matcha Baileys stood out to us as it was refreshing and delicious, but we were disappointed that the glass it was served in was only poured half full.

The creativity of the Four Flamingos menu really shone in the dessert menu. Our server recommended the Baked Florida, a meringue dessert with hidden layers of key lime pie and raspberry gelee, which he lit up in front of us, creating a memorable experience to end our meal with.
For a lighter dessert option, we recommend trying “The Coconut”. A silky coconut mousse, encased in a chocolate shell. It paired perfectly with the bright green pandan sauce. We also ordered the Dulce de Leche Creme Brûlée. Accompanied by a dark chocolate biscotti, fruit puree, and “espresso soil,” it offers a mix of crunchy and creamy textures and the delectable aroma of coffee and fruit.
In Closing: If you're looking for a fine dining experience with a Key West twist, give Four Flamingos a try. We highly recommend the empanada along with their eye-catching drinks and desserts. On a budget? Consider coming for their Happy Hour but make sure to tell the host so they seat you at the bar.

SIDEBAR:
There is an automatic 20% gratuity for parties of 6-12, which is split between the restaurant staff. Keep this in mind if you want to tip your server directly. For a fine dining experience, our server and the staff were phenomenal, but the food was definitely a little pricey even with us sharing dishes amongst our party of 6. The portions were huge, and could have been split family-style, but that was not conveyed to us. You can find Four Flamingo's latest offerings from their Instagram here.
